Michele Josia is an Emmy Award–winning Italian film composer and choir conductor whose career spans more than two decades across Europe, Asia, and the United States. He has written 42 film scores, and his work has been featured at major international festivals, including the Festival de Cannes (65th and 66th editions), the David di Donatello Awards, two selections at the Globo d’Oro (the Italian equivalent of the Golden Globes), the Rome International Film Festival (RIFF), the Sedona International Film Festival, BIFFF – Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival, the Durban International Film Festival, MannheimHeidelberg, and the International Film Festival of Kerala.

Josia collaborated as choir conductor assistant to Ennio Morricone on several film productions, including Vatel, Aida of the Trees (Aida degli alberi), Padre Pio: Between Heaven and Earth (Padre Pio tra cielo e terra), La Piovra 10 (The Octopus 10), and Joseph of Nazareth (Giuseppe di Nazareth). His music has been performed by Grammy Award winner Eric Whitacre, and he has served as a lecturer and consultant for institutions such as the Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Filmmaking in Arizona.

As a conductor and performer, Josia has appeared in more than 190 concerts across Europe and Asia, presenting his own compositions in prestigious venues including the Slovenian Philharmonic Hall, the Cankarjev Dom in Ljubljana, the Mozarteum Concert Hall in Salzburg, and the Beijing Philharmonic Hall in China. He has also recorded 22 CDs as conductor, assistant conductor, and film composer, and has served as jury member and lecturer in international choral and composition competitions.

His recent film credits include Gate to Heaven, starring Richard Sammel; Revival, starring Armand Assante and Maia Morgenstern; I Racconti della Domenica (RAI Cinema), starring Nino Frassica and Stella Egitto; I Follow You, starring Jennifer Michiati, Hal Yamanouchi; III Smoking Barrels, starring Subrat Dutta, Indraneil Sengupta; and Joachim and the Apocalypse, starring Francesco Turbanti, Nikolay Moss, Yoon C. Joyce.

Josia has received over 90 awards across concert music, conducting, and film scoring. His accolades include the Emmy Award – Suncoast Chapter for River of the Last Valley, two World Entertainment Awards for Best Music Score, seven Cristal Pine Award nominations for Best Original Score (Feature) at the prestigious International Sound & Film Music Festival, twelve Global Music Awards (Silver and Gold Medal, eight consecutive years), and the PRAG Cine Award for Best Soundtrack. He is also the only composer of an Italian film preselected for the 98th Academy Awards for his score to Joachim and the Apocalypse.

He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmy), the European Film Academy, the International Film Music Society of China, and a former member of the Italian Film Academy for the David di Donatello Awards.
